Modern and Practical - ABOUT WILD WEAVES BRACELETS

Weaving horsehair into a ribbon is tedious and time consuming process but you are sure to get something unique!

Our bracelets are the combination of uniqueness and functionality. Unlike many other products of the type our horsehair bracelets are woven not braided. Weaving horse’s hair is very uncommon. The technique itself is ancient and because horses’ hair is thin and has limited length, weaving it is difficult and time consuming. The achievable patterns, however, are inimitable.
Attached to a leather base with stainless steel bars, the weave forms a stylish wristband which is not only comfortable to wear but also looks very modern. Its unisex style makes it suitable for both women and men. It will make a great and unique keepsake to cherish the memory of your horse. Such a bracelet can be a perfect gift for any equestrian and horse lover who wants to show the attachement to their equine friend and wear a piece of jewelry that MEANS something special to them.

At the moment we offer 8 models of our bracelets: Hisane, Kawayo, Hoiho, Tchiva, New Tesunke, Zaldi, Dafia and Athena. Each model is different in some details but the basic criterion is the width of the weave, either 5 mm, 6 mm, 6,5 mm or 10 mm. 5 models feature 10 mm wide genuine leather base. The leather strips for Tchiva and Hoiho additionaly have special “grooves” to keep the weave straight and tight along the bracelet. Zaldi has leather of 5 mm width, Dafia and Athena have none. Athena additionally has metallic string interwoven into the horsehair which gives it very elegant look. The photos of particular bracelet models can be seen here.

Horsehair is meticulously handwoven by us forming a flat ribbon attached later to a leather strip with the help of metallic bars and clasp. The ribbon is not glued to the leather along the bracelet (just ends) to let it “breathe” freely. We want to limit the interference with your horse’s hair to the minimum needed to make the bracelet durable. The leather base works as a “safety shield” for the weave, it protects the woven horsehair from brushing agains the skin. The woven ribbon is very solid itself so unless you deliberately cut it or try to pull it out of clasps nothing bad should happen to it during everyday use.

Most bracelets have stainless steel elements – they are resistant to tarnish and to scratching, have nice silvery finish and are hypoallergenic. Dafia’s closures and New Tesunke’s slider charms are made from ZAMAK (high quality casting alloy manufactured in EU).

The model HISANE is our base model. It features one central “open” ractangular steel element , 4 small steel bars and 10 mm wide horsehair weave which goes along the bracelets from one clasp end to the other. ‘Hisane’ is very special in that the handwoven ribbon is as wide as the leather base which means horsehair covers it entirely making the ribbon from Your horse’s hair the most essential visual element here.

The model KAWAYO is a “sister” to HISANE model. It also has 10 mm wide weave which covers the leather strip entirely in width making the ribbon from Your horse’s hair the most essential visual element here. However, in contrast to ‘Hisane’ it doesn’t have a rectangular central steel element, just the three or four small stainless steel bars.

The model TCHIVA, on the other hand, is a “sister” to HOIHO. It also has a horsehair weave which is about 6.5 mm wide and does not cover the leather strip entirely in width so the leather acts as a background against which the ribbon can nicely stand out. The leather strip has special groove in which the woven ribbon lies straight and tight along the bracelet. We offer two genuine leather colors to choose from and several patterns for the weave so you can compose you own style bracelet. In contrast to ‘Hoiho’ , Tchiva doesn’t have a rectangular stainless steel element in the middle of a bracelet, only the 1-3 small steel bars which stabilize the weave and what differs it from ‘Kawayo’ is the width of a woven horsehair ribbon.

Where it comes to NEW TESUNKE, it replaced old “Tesunke” and now it also has genuine leather base of 10 mm width. The bracelet features 5 mm wide weave from your horse’s tail hair. The woven ribbon goes along the bracelets from one clasp end to the other, it doesn’t cover the leather strip entirely in width so the leather acts as a background against which the ribbon can nicely stand out. It can have small stainless steel  decorative bar or slider charms in different shapes (horse, heart, square)

ZALDI is the narrowest of all,  yet presenting itself most charming. Only 5 mm wide leather and 5 mm wide horsehair weave passed through one stainless steel cuboid shape element.

DAFIA is one of the two most recent bracelets. Dafia is very special in that it is woven in a technique that gives the ribbon almost double thickness comparing to other woven ribbons available with our leather bracelets. It also has the pattern visible on both outer and inner surface of the woven ribbon. The handwoven pattern, at a closer look, seems to have a bit ragged lines but that is how this type of weave looks like.

ATHENA combines woven horsehair with metallic string which gives it an elegant look. At the moment you can choose 4 different string colors to be woven with the horsehair into one ribbon.
